Creative Arts Therapy & Group Workshops
Jade is here to listen.
I focus my work with women only at this time. I specialize in working with women affected by trauma and are experiencing symptoms of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), anxiety, depression, and low self-worth and shame. I also work well with women looking to enhance their relationships and who are seeking empowerment and authenticity in their lives.
I am part of a counselling collective at the Squamish Counselling Clinic and see individual clients virtually with limited in office availability at this time. Please see 'Hours of Operation' listed below for more details.
I believe in a unique and customized counselling experience for each and every client.
"Somatic Experiencing (SE) is a body-oriented approach to healing trauma and other stress disorders. The SE approach releases traumatic shock, which is key to transforming PTSD and the wounds of emotional and early developmental attachment trauma." - Taken from www.traumahealing.org
Jade has completed the Somatic Experiencing (SE) Advanced Level 2 training through the SE Trauma Institute. This means Jade has completed the SE program with a total of 225 hours of learning involving lecture, discussion, experience as practitioner and client, as well as personal consultation with a certified SE Practitioner (SEP).
My approach is creative, empathic, mindful and trauma informed.
Jade's love of the arts, acting and helping others led her to complete her Master's degree in Creative Arts Therapy, with a special focus in Drama Therapy. This means she uses creative interventions based in theatre to explore the internal landscape. Use of art, sound, movement, and writing are used to explore, express and contain unconscious emotional and psychological experiences. Response art is encouraged between session, and to be brought into session for further exploration and insight. Some Drama Therapy processes that clients can be guided through include (and are not limited to) are: Self-Revelatory Performance, and The Story Within. Please inquire for more details.
Jade also offers creative workshops that are typically 1.5-2 hours long and can be held over multiple sessions or completed in a single day. Please sign up with your email to be notified of any future workshops.
Themes from past workshops include:
I work virtually offering video and telephone counselling sessions. All virtual counselling services are done through Zoom which is a secure encrypted video conferencing platform. All you need is access to a computer or smart phone that has the Zoom app, a private space to have the session and a stable Wifi connection.
Jade has completed the CPT training and is now offering it to clients with PTSD. CPT is a type of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) that is considered a frontline approach to treating the PTSD. CPT helps you learn how to identify, challenge and change unhelpful beliefs related to the trauma that are negatively impacting your life and keeping you stuck in symptoms of PTSD. It is NOT about lying to yourself. It is about working together so you can stop avoiding, come to an honest and clear understanding of the trauma and feel the natural emotions around it so you can move forward and stop suffering. It is an evidenced based treatment option proven effective in reducing symptoms of PTSD. CPT is generally delivered over 6-12 sessions. Weekly sessions are recommended. Please contact Jade for more information.

EMDR is a structured form of therapy that is "designed to resolve unprocessed traumatic memories in the brain. For many clients, EMDR therapy can be completed in fewer sessions than other psychotherapies."
"EMDR therapy does not require talking in detail about the distressing issue or completing homework between sessions."
